About the MEASURE Study

The MEASURE study is a randomized clinical trial, funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This research study is being carried out by the University of California, San Diego.

What are we studying?

The purpose of this research study is to find out how the body uses salt.  In a racially diverse sample of adults with high blood pressure, we will examine the effects of high and low dietary salt intake on the storage and excretion of sodium to determine whether its distribution in the body affects blood pressure. Our findings may have implications for managing hypertension and related conditions.
